The Toronto Alexander Family Foundation (TAFF) was founded in 2008 as a federally-chartered charitable institution with a mission to assist patients stricken with IPF - one patient at a time. TAFF was founded to support its first patient, Ian “E” Alexander.
Ian received a double lung transplant at the Toronto General Hospital in 2009. He lived to see the marriage of his only daughter and the birth of his first grandson. Surrounded by loved ones Ian died on April 3, 2013 after a heroic struggle.
Since then TAFF has helped over 40 disadvantaged patients by funding their preand post-operative accommodation at Maison des Greffés in Quebec and is now supporting patients in Toronto through the University Health Network - Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation.
